00:28 < _dfc> brandini: there is no support for go, yet on solaris
00:28 < _dfc> i know a few people were remunating about a port earlier in
the year

00:30 < randfur> Is there any specification on using switch statements with
channels like in this example:
http://blog.golang.org/2010/09/go-concurrency-patterns-timing-out-and.html
00:31 < _dfc> randfur: i think this would be covered in the spec
00:32 < randfur> I looked, the spec doesn't appear to cover channels being
used in switches.
00:33 < brandini> _dfc: yeah, just seeing if it was going to come easily or
not
00:33 < brandini> Maybe I'll be a true masocist and try porting it to
openbsd
00:33 < _dfc> brandini: search the googl groups from there
00:33 < _dfc> bsd might be easier
00:33 < Tv> randfur: you mean select statements?
http://golang.org/doc/go_spec.html#Select_statements
00:33 < _dfc> there is already a fully supported port to FreeBSD
00:34 < brandini> yup, but they are quite different
00:34 < randfur> Tv: Ohh, heh. Looks like I got the two mixed up. Thanks.

04:02 < saotome> Very happy with the announcement that golang will be
supported by app engine "soon". I know that the team will implement services for
golang as the project progresses. I saw that Channel service was not one of the
initial offerings. Is it feasible to use the websocket package included in the
language to achieve a similar benefit? Or does the app engine platform make using
web socket difficult (limit on how long a response can take, etc.)
04:07 <@adg> saotome: nope, you can't use websocket under app engine. it
doesn't support streaming responses
04:07 <@adg> saotome: channels are coming soon
04:07 < saotome> :(
04:08 < saotome> any idea when the feature will become available? Also, any
idea when it will stop being an "experimental" feature, and I can actually deploy
some stuff?

04:16 < vsmatck> I need to make my go program in to a deamon. I think that
requires that I fork and then have parent exit. Is there a way to do that in go?
04:18 <@adg> saotome: sign up as a trusted tester, you'll get access to
deploy soon enough
04:18 < jessta> vsmatck: forking really does'nt work too well in
multithreaded environments
04:18 <@adg> as far as coming out of 'experimental', i'm not sure
04:19 < vsmatck> jessta: Hm. I think I'll just write a wrapper script to do
what I need. Thanks.

12:54 < xyproto> About the fibonacci closure example on the golang.org front
page: when f() is called, it's the same function that is called each and every
time, right? (Which is the function that does not have a name in a first place,
but is returned by fib). Yes?
12:55 < xyproto> And a and b acts like static variables in C, since they are
not garbage collected, since f() will still be used?
12:59 < huin> xyproto: not really quite the same as static, strictly
speaking
13:00 < huin> xyproto: once the fib function returns, the only thing that

13:00 < huin> xyproto: so another invocation of fib *won't* share those

20:07 < kevlar> so if, as in that example, you wanted to only accept

21:24 < Tonnerre> I don't really see it either; accoring to man rsa:
21:24 < Tonnerre> This specifies the input format. The DER option uses an
ASN1 DER encoded form compatible with the PKCS#1 RSAPrivateKey or
SubjectPublicKeyInfo format. The PEM form is the default format: it consists of
the DER format base64 encoded with additional header and footer lines. On input
PKCS#8 format private keys are also accepted. The NET form is a format is
described in the NOTES section.
